Smilebigforgod

Smilebigforgod (b. Michael Walker, Rochester, New York, 1987) is an artist and technologist whose practice collapses the distance between live bodies and live networks. From early YouTube commissions (The SubCulture Club, 2010–14) to the pioneering IRL/URL venue #LIVINGROOMTODAY, he has consistently treated the internet as a stage rather than a screen. In 2016, while producing the 24-hour internet television channel 8ball.tv in New York, he created CompUSA.live—the first work of live desktop theater, later exhibited at the New Museum. Through GGGLUE Interactive he engineered the real-time backbone for America’s largest music venue; its successor Smilesoft.dev built the transatlantic NYC–Dublin PORTAL (2024, 3 billion+ interactions). He currently directs the production company Rebrandinginprogress. A new large-scale interactive performance is scheduled for 2026; a stage play follows in 2027.
